The Ford Center for the Performing Arts announces
Auditions for
Meredith Willson’s
The Music Man
Directed by John Davenport
The Ford Center for the Performing Arts, supported by Nancye B. Starnes, will produce The Music Man on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1, 2023. This summer production will include performers of all ages as a community-engagement project between the Ford Center, the University of Mississippi, and Oxford.
Harold Hill will be played by Joe Jackson and Marion Paroo will be played by Alice-Anne Light. Both of these music theatre professionals are alumni of the University of Mississippi!
All other roles will be cast through open auditions:
Saturday, March 4 10:00am – 2:00pm with callbacks in the evening, including dance
Sunday, March 5 2:00pm – 5:00pm
We need singers, actors, dancers, and backstage staff for this production. Please prepare two minutes of a Broadway song and a 30-second monologue (optional) for memory. An accompanist will be provided.
Headshots and a resume are encouraged, but we can take your photo when you arrive. Please go to fordcenter.org and download the audition form. Please bring a completed form with you to the audition.
There are paid staff, crew, and internships available as well. If you are applying only for a technical position, please bring a theatre resume.
You will need to be available for evening and some weekend rehearsals beginning May 30. The rehearsal schedule will vary depending on your role. The final week will involve nightly rehearsals for the entire cast.
We are looking forward to seeing you on the stage of the Ford Center!
Julia Aubrey, Director of the Ford Center, Artistic Director
