An important component of our mission is arts educational outreach for children. In 2017, the Ford Center began the Daytime School Series designed to provide school-age children with a live theatrical experience. Invitations are sent to public schools in Oxford, and other schools in the state, offering them the opportunity to bring children into the Ford Center to attend an age-appropriate theatrical event, and each show offers educational materials to help the teachers prepare the students before they attended the performances.
Two generous donors, Nancye B. Starnes and Joc and Leigh Anne Carpenter of the Madison Charitable Fund, share our passion for this outreach and provide donations to fund the initiative each year. With their contributions, tickets are only $5.00 for students and teachers are given free admission. The Series served over 3,500 children in 2019-2020.
