Open Youth Cast Audition Information
Student dancers aged 6-17 are welcome audition regardless of technical level. There’s a role suited for everyone, whether it’s as Party Children, Mice, Snowflakes, Snow Maidens, or Variations!
At least one year of ballet instruction required.
Tuesday, September 16 is the only audition day offered. Registration opens at 3:15pm
All dancers should arrive in dance apparel ready to audition.
Each dancer will be assigned a number to be worn on their leotard. They will be identified by number only during the audition.
Auditions begin at 4:00pm on the main stage .
The professionals from NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet will cast the children’s roles directly after the audition. They make all casting decisions, not Ford Center personnel or local teachers.
Not everyone who auditions will be cast, but we want the audition to be a positive and encouraging experience for the young dancers.
The first rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, September 17. This rehearsal is mandatory for all dancers cast in the ballet.
Youth cast dancers must attend all rehearsals. Only one absence is permitted, except dress rehearsal. Specific times for each group will be determined later:
Rehearsals:
September 21 & 28
October 12
November 2 & 30
December 7 & 9
Sunday rehearsals are 3-6 p.m
Dancers who are cast will receive a detailed list of instructions and a schedule for the performance at a later date.
